This describes how Workset ("we", "us") handles your data. Workset is run by Workset (Tyson Daffin, sole proprietor). It is provided for transparency inside the app; the canonical version lives at https://getworksetapp.com/privacy. Consumer health data is also covered by a separate, dedicated notice: our Consumer Health Data notice at https://getworksetapp.com/consumer-health-data. Questions: support@getworksetapp.com.
1. Data we collect
Account: your email address, your display name, and the birth month and year you give at sign-up. We never ask for the day you were born.
Health & fitness data you enter: workouts, exercises, sets, body weight and measurements, body-fat and muscle metrics, body details (height, weight, goal weight, sex, age and activity level), nutrition and meals, saved foods and nutrition targets, hydration, and readiness (soreness/stress) logs.
Apple Health, only with your permission: Workset saves your finished workouts to Apple Health, and reads your active calories (active energy) to show them on Eat. Active calories never change your calorie budget. Workset does not read your body mass, heart rate, or weigh-ins from Apple Health.
Photos: your profile picture and any progress photos you add. A meal or label photo you take for an AI estimate is sent to Anthropic to read it (Section 3); we don't store it on our servers.
Your choices: a record of what you agreed to and decided (the Terms, health data, AI features), which version of each document it was, and when. We keep it so we can show what you agreed to.
Social content: posts, comments, likes, and your friend connections.
Technical data needed to run the app (e.g. app version, device-level diagnostics your OS provides).
We do NOT include any advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your data
To provide the core product: track your training and nutrition, show progress, and power social features.
Your birth month and year: to check that you're old enough to use Workset (Terms Section 2), and to work out your age for your nutrition targets.
To provide optional AI features (workout plans, meal estimates from text or photos, insights), ONLY if you turn AI features on. We then send what the AI consent screen lists (Section 3) to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), through our own server, solely to generate estimates and insights for you. AI outputs are estimates, not medical advice.
We never use your health or fitness data for advertising, marketing, or data mining. We don't sell your health data, and we don't sell any of your other data either.
3. Consent (health data and AI are asked for separately)
When you sign up, you agree to our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy. That is all sign-up asks you to agree to. Health data and AI are each asked for on their own, later, and agreeing to the Terms is not consent to either:
Health data: asked during setup, on its own step that shows what we collect, how we use it, who gets it and how to stop, with a link to our Consumer Health Data notice. The box starts unchecked, and you can continue without it: body and food tracking then stay off until you turn health data on in Settings › Your data and privacy › Health data.
AI processing by Anthropic: asked the first time you use an AI feature, on a screen titled "Turn on AI features?". It says what's sent: your workouts, goals and PR history; the meals you describe or photograph and the nutrition labels you photograph; and, if health data is on, your weigh-ins, body details, nutrition targets, water, and the meals you log. It says who gets it: Anthropic, which runs Claude, to write your estimates, plans and insights. Nothing is sent until you choose Turn on; Not now sends nothing. If you turned AI on in an earlier version of the app, before this screen existed, the app asks you again on this screen the next time you use an AI feature.
Turning either off: you can turn health data or AI features off at any time in Settings › Your data and privacy, as easily as you turned it on. Turning health data off stops us collecting it and deletes your stored weigh-ins, measurements, food and water logs, saved foods, readiness check-ins, nutrition targets, progress photos and body details (you can export them first). Turning AI features off stops anything more being sent to Anthropic and clears the AI replies saved on your phone.
We never use pre-checked boxes, and we never treat accepting the Terms as consent to health data or AI.
4. Apple Health
Health data read via Apple HealthKit is used only to provide app features and is never used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing. Active calories are read only while health data is on; they're shown on Eat and History and are never sent to our servers or to Anthropic. We do not store Apple Health data in iCloud. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay there if you turn health data off or delete your account; remove them in the Health app. You can change what Workset may read and write at any time in the Health app.
5. Who we share data with (processors)
Supabase: secure hosting, database, authentication, and storage of your account data and content (US region).
Anthropic: processes the AI-feature inputs listed in Section 3, only when you have turned AI features on. Anthropic acts as our processor under contract and does not train models on, mine, or repurpose your data.
Resend: sends the app's emails, such as your sign-up and password codes, so it receives your email address.
Open Food Facts: receives barcode/search queries when you look up foods; we do not send your identity.
We require our processors to protect your data and use it only to provide the service, under a data-processing agreement.
6. Your choices and rights
Consent: health data and AI are separate choices (Section 3). Turn either off at any time in Settings › Your data and privacy.
Access & export: export your data as CSV from You › All time › Export my data, or Settings › Export my data.
Correction: you can edit most of what you've entered in the app. Settings › Account shows your birth month and year; to correct them, contact support@getworksetapp.com.
Deletion: delete your entire account and associated personal data at any time from Settings › Account actions › Delete Account. This removes your account record, your data, your consent records, and your uploaded photos. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay there; remove them in the Health app.
State and regional rights: depending on where you live you may have additional rights.
California: you may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale"/"sharing" (we do not sell or share data for cross-context behavioral advertising).
EU/UK: where applicable, rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object, and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. Our lawful basis for processing health data is your explicit consent.
We keep your data while your account is active. Turning health data off deletes the stored health data listed in Section 3. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law. Anthropic may keep AI inputs and outputs for a limited time to run the service and prevent abuse, under our agreement with it.
8. Security, your phone, and breach notification
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and store authentication tokens in the device keychain. Workset also keeps a few things on your phone: AI replies for up to 7 days, an unfinished workout, display settings, and the email you last logged in with, so Log in can fill it in. Log out clears your personal items except that email; Delete Account clears it too. If sign-up stops because of your age, nothing you entered is sent to us, but the phone keeps the month the stop lifts in its keychain (your birth month in the year you turn 16), so it stays after a log-out and may stay after the app is deleted. If a breach affecting your personal or health data occurs, we will notify affected users and any regulators as required by applicable law, without unreasonable delay.
9. Data sources & attribution
Workset uses food and nutrition data from Open Food Facts, a collaborative, free and open database of food products from around the world. This data is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0, and its individual contents under the Database Contents License (DbCL) v1.0. Workset is not endorsed by or affiliated with Open Food Facts. Learn more and access the source database at https://openfoodfacts.org. Product images sourced from Open Food Facts are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 (CC BY-SA 3.0) by their respective contributors.
10. Children
Workset is not intended for children under 16. Sign-up asks for your birth month and year and stops anyone under 16 before an account is made. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact support@getworksetapp.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we update the effective date at the top. When a change is material, the app shows it to you the next time you open it, with a short note of what changed and a link to this policy, and asks you to review and agree before you continue (Terms Section 12). If you have health data on and our Consumer Health Data notice changes materially, the app also asks you to confirm your health data choice again.
